Equipment
-
Cocktail Shaker
-
Milk Frother
-
Measuring Cups
-
Long Handle Spoon
Ingredients
For the simple syrup:
- 2 tsp sugar
- 4 tsp hot water
For the shaken espresso:
- Ice
- 1 shot freshly brewed espresso
- 10 – 12 mint leaves
- 1/4 cup creamer of choice, frothed
Instructions
-
Make the simple syrup by stirring the sugar into the hot water until it dissolves. Set aside to cool slightly.
-
In a cocktail shaker, add a handful of ice, the shot of freshly brewed espresso, and half the simple syrup.
-
Cover and shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds to chill and create a frothy texture. Taste and add the remaining syrup if you prefer it sweeter.
-
In a large glass, gently muddle the mint leaves to release their oils, then fill the glass with ice.
-
Pour the shaken espresso over the muddled mint and ice, then top with the frothed creamer or milk.
-
Garnish with extra mint, give a gentle stir to combine flavors, and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh mint leaves for the best flavor; mint extract won’t provide the same brightness.
- Brew espresso ahead of time and chill it for an extra-cold drink.
- Oat or coconut creamer works well—both froth nicely and add subtle sweetness.
- Double the ingredient amounts to serve two or to make a stronger beverage.
- A wide glass helps deliver the mint aroma with each sip.
