Santa’s Helper
My roommate and I discovered this cocktail last year when we wanted a festive martini before bringing our tree decorations up from the basement. It’s a bright, mint-forward winter drink that looks elegant and tastes like the holidays. A word of caution: these are potent. One is often enough to feel merry, and two or three will definitely make the evening more spirited.
Instructions:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice — the colder the ingredients, the better.
- Pour all ingredients into the shaker, shake well until chilled, then strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with a mini candy cane hooked on the rim or crushed peppermint on the glass for a festive touch.
Ingredients:
- 5 oz vodka
- 2 oz crème de menthe
- 0.5 oz peppermint schnapps
- Mini candy canes for garnish
This simple combination creates a smooth, minty martini that’s perfect for holiday gatherings. The candy cane garnish adds a playful look and a touch of extra peppermint as it dissolves. Serve very cold and enjoy responsibly. Cheers!
